As a fellowship trained shoulder and elbow reconstruction specialist, my main area of interest involves simple and complex shoulder and elbow replacements. I have extensive training and experience in shoulder replacements for arthritis and trauma as well as shoulder fracture repair. I also will treat complex elbow injuries.

To date, due to my fellowship training, I believe I am the most experienced surgeon in the Hawaiian Islands with regards to the new reversed total shoulder replacement. This new implant is specifically designed for patients with arthritis in conjunction with rotator cuff tendon tears. It also has use for revision, or re-do surgeries, after failed total shoulder replacements, failed shoulder replacements after fractures, and even in certain tumor cases. I have been very pleased with the results of this novel surgery, which has only been available in the U.S. since 2004.

My experience with complex shoulder reconstruction has allowed me to present results of complex reversed total shoulder replacements at the most recent American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting (San Francisco 2008).
